Akita is one of oldest breed. The breeding book Kezuke-cho originates from 1500. The book became cultural and natural monument of Japan in 1931. Nowadays Akita inu is very popular in Japan. We could find them on stamps, shields or art pieces. (from http://www.shiroshita.dog.sk/index_en.php )
